The Clear Value of Certified Care Managers
Life expectancy for US seniors is longer than it’s ever been and many seniors are choosing to age in their own homes with the help of community support services such as those provided by a Certified Care Manager (CCM).

CCM certification is sponsored by the National Academy of Certified Care Managers (NACCM), an organization formed to promote the provision of quality senior care services. CCM recipients are nursing or care professionals who have successfully completed NACCM’s rigorous educational and work experience criteria including a comprehensive exam. Once certified, CCM recipients must also participate in ongoing continuing education in order to maintain their certification.

“CCM certification is a benefit to both our clients and our organization,” says Aurora Community Health Director of Nursing Candy Wolf, RN. “The certification demonstrates that our individual staff members possess the skill and knowledge required to provide excellent care but connection with NACCM also ensures that Aurora as an organization remains current on the latest trends and development in senior care.”

Candy came from a background in pediatric nursing and has been with Aurora for almost ten years. As Director of Nursing she has enjoyed seeing her staff provide the professional and expert care for which Aurora is known and she values the CCM certification as a way of demonstrating this expertise to the community. All Aurora care managers are required to have the CCM certification.

Seniors who are looking for in-home care should ensure that their caregivers are professionally certified in order to make certain that the care they receive is professional and thorough.
